About Us

In the 1950s, the Kaohsiung Harbor Port Authority built a building called the “Kaohsiung Port Authority Single Quarters (Crew and Technician Waiting Room)” to provide temporary resting accommodations for harbor workers awaiting ship assignments. This three-story building, covering an area of 3,100 square meters, served as a waiting room. It holds a rich historical memory and labor culture. At that time, almost everyone who came to Kaohsiung was there to “conquer the world.” Like migratory birds, they moved from place to place, braving the strong winds of the world with their own hands. The adventurers who had been baptized by the ocean were all heroes!

Over the years, the waiting room was later converted into a staff dormitory, and later left abandoned It remained abandoned for many years, witnessing the rise and fall of the Kaohsiung port area and the hurried figures of countless workers. It is not just a building; but also a representative of the local historical memory and the result of the joint efforts of the people who struggled on this land.

Today, the waiting room still stands in the Kaohsiung port area. It is not only a witness to history but also an important symbol of the local culture. Stepping inside, one can almost hear the affectionate confessions of time and feel the stories of countless people who have quietly toiled on this land. The existence of this building continues the long history of the Kaohsiung Port District. The left wall is adorned with murals from the Pier-2 Art District, and the waiting room is soon to be revitalized into a new type of accommodation space called “PAPO’A Harbor Hotel,” continuing to inject irreplaceable vitality into the city.
